The State Agency is the primary environmental protection agency for the state. This state agency is one of the largest environmental commissions in the United States and protects the environment under state law. This includes the protection of air and water resources and the regulation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation.
TEAM IM has been providing Enhanced Support for Oracle WebCenter for several years to the State Agency. Recently, the customer had a specific requirement to migrate permits from a legacy application into Oracle WebCenter and turned to TEAM IM for assistance.
TEAM IM brought the existing knowledge and expertise around Oracle WebCenter and the specific environment since they have been supporting the customer for a number of years.
The State Agency was storing air permits in a legacy application and was looking to leverage the existing investment in Oracle WebCenter as the storage repository.
TEAM IM first conducted a functional requirements session to review and analyze the overall architecture and business requirements, including specific components, integrations, process workflows, and technical requirements. This created an understanding of the legacy application’s current functionality to ensure that the same functionality would be replicated in the new WebCenter Environment. The output was a functional requirements document that the client reviewed for accuracy and signoff.
To expand Oracle WebCenter’s footprint, TEAM IM needed to complete an application architecture design review session with the Agency. An Application Design document (ADD) was created to include configurations, all required customizations, and Content Migration sequence details.
Once the Agency signed off the ADD, TEAM IM began on the migration steps, including:
Creating the necessary WebCenter configurations for Metadata, profiles, and security for the documents
Developing a custom data lookup component for the Air Permit profile data
Created a scheduled event for projects that were closed (i.e., completed WCC workflow)
Developing the required workflow functionality for WebCenter Content
Creating program-specific search pages for WebCenter content
Making the migration Scripts, moving the content and index information from the legacy system to Oracle WebCenter
Performing the migration into the WebCenter development environment, ensuring data integrity
